The urban regeneration of the industrial area of Zorrotzaurre, in Bilbao, has led to the recent relocation of the VICINAY chain factory after more than 60 years of activity. This marine chain factory that has defined the urban landscape of the area, has produced, link after link, about 10,000 km of chains (the equivalent\u00a0 of the distance between the cities of Bilbao and Beijing). This has contributed decisively in the definition of a territory and the economic development of the area, generating wealth for four generations of families and creating a link with society. This work is a gesture, a transmission of that legacy of years of production, creation and social repercussion. A staging that, from the absence, makes us reflect on the importance that this production center has had in the definition of its own emotional landscape. \u201cThe memory of the place\u201d. It is intended to activate the memory through space and the actions that have been happening in it over the years, impregnating the factory facilities by sublimation of the ways in which it has lived. The works resulting from this work reestablish the factory\u2019s link with society, visible in the deformations and wrinkles that reflect the tensions suffered during six decades by the drag of thousands of tons of chains through the original steel floors of the plant for more of sixty years, as a metaphor for its activity. The work is presented wrapped by the music created expressly by the composer Gorka Alda, from sounds recorded in the factory itself.<\/p>\n

Progetto supportato da un finanziamento del 2017 \u201cLeonardo Grant for Researchers and Cultural Creators\u201d, Fondazione BBVA<\/em><\/p>\n

La riqualificazione urbana dell\u2019area industriale di Zorrotzaurre, a Bilbao, ha portato alla recente rilocazione, dopo oltre 60 anni di attivit\u00e0, dell\u2019azienda manifatturiera produttrice di catene VICINAY. Questa fabbrica di catene navali che per decenni ha caratterizzato il paesaggio urbano della zona ha realizzato, maglia dopo maglia, qualcosa come 10.000 km di catene (lunghezza che corrisponde alla distanza tra le citta di Bilbao e Pechino). Questa attivit\u00e0 ha contribuito in modo decisivo alla definizione del territorio e allo sviluppo economico dell\u2019area, costituendo una fonte di guadagno per quattro generazioni di famiglie e creando un forte legame con la societ\u00e0. Quest\u2019opera e un gesto dal valore profondo, simboleggia la trasmissione dell\u2019eredit\u00e0 di quegli anni di produzione, creazione e ripercussioni sociali. Un allestimento che, a partire dall\u2019assenza della fabbrica, ci fa riflettere sull\u2019importanza che questo centro produttivo ha avuto nella definizione del paesaggio emotivo circostante. \u201cThe memory of the place\u201d, la memoria del luogo. Il progetto intende attivare la memoria attraverso lo spazio e gli eventi che si sono succeduti al suo interno nel corso degli anni, impregnando le strutture della fabbrica per effetto di una sublimazione dei modi di vivere che la hanno caratterizzata. Le opere che prendono forma da questo lavoro ristabiliscono il collegamento della fabbrica con la societ\u00e0, visibile nelle deformazioni e nelle crepe che riflettono le tensioni sofferte per sei decenni e causate dal peso di tonnellate di catene che per oltre sessant\u2019anni hanno schiacciato i pavimenti originali in acciaio dello stabilimento, come metafora dell\u2019attivit\u00e0 stessa della fabbrica. L\u2019opera viene presentata avvolta in una colonna sonora scritta appositamente dal compositore Gorka Alda mettendo insieme suoni registrati all\u2019interno della fabbrica stessa.<\/p>\n
